PADAWAN: Police picked up a local man with syabu on him at Kampung Segedup, Jalan Batu Kawa, here yesterday (Jan 10).

The 44-year-old was detained for inspections after a police team raided a house around 10.30 am.

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the arrest of the  suspect led to the discovery of six plastic packets containing a crystalline substance believed to be syabu.

“The drugs were concealed inside a medicine packet and stored in a mint tin.

“The seized drugs, weighing 5.15g, are estimated to be worth around RM1,030,” he said.

The suspect, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, had four prior drug-related records.

Abang Zainal said the suspect, during interrogation, admitted to a five-year involvement in substance abuse.

The suspect also claimed to have obtained drug supplies twice a week from a Chinese man known as ‘Boss’.

Efforts are ongoing to acquire more information from the suspect and trace the source of the drug supply.
