Cops on the heels of suspects in Jalan Penrissen robbery case

KUCHING: The police are currently on the hunt for three men believed to be locals who committed robbery at Taman Desa Paul, Jalan Penrissen yesterday (Feb 17).

Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a police report was made by a resident in the area that three men armed with parang and knives were attempting to break into a house at around 2am.

Zainal added that the victim, 50, and his housemate were tied up by the suspects when the robbery happened.

“All three suspects instructed the victim and his housemate to immediately leave their rooms, where they tied them with handphone charging wires.

“The suspects demanded money and valuable items before leaving the house,” he said in a statement yesterday (Feb 17).

Zainal disclosed that the suspects left the victim’s house around 4am alongside a gold necklace that was estimated to be 16 grammes and worth around RM3,200, together with personal documents, all of which were stolen by the suspects.

He added that the victims managed to untie themselves and reported the incident to the police.

“Currently, the police from IPD Padawan are on the hunt to look for the suspects.

“Early investigations revealed that during the incident, the suspects broke into the house by damaging the metal window grill located on the first floor of the house.

“Both victims were asleep in their rooms when the suspects broke into the house,” he said.

He urged those with information on the case to contact the nearest police station immediately.
