BINTANGOR: Meradong police will continue to strengthen its relations with the public as a means to eradicate crime while establishing rapport with the community.

The proactive step elicits a sense of safety within the community as well as a way for the public to channel information to the police.

With these intentions, Meradong District Police Headquarters organised the Police and Tuai Rumah Community Programme at Rumah Kiroh, Sungai Sebatu Mador, Jalan KJD here yesterday.

The programme, which commenced at 11.30am, was attended by more than 130 participants consisting of longhouse chiefs, community leaders and residents of the district.

Speaking during the programme, Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said that the community plays important roles as the eyes and ears in channelling information to the police.

“This also shows the police’s commitment in eradicating crime and ensuring public safety. It is also in line with their slogan and the community should not be separated,” he said.
