Environmental Health Unit team from SRDC conducted inspections and monitoring on food premises at Airport Sibu.

SIBU: Following reports of rodent sightings, the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) will intensify monitoring efforts at eateries in Sibu Airport.

The SRDC chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said that vigilant monitoring is necessary to facilitate effective rodent control measures pending a comprehensive report.

“A detailed report will be furnished to both myself and the SRDC Public Health Committee, led by Councillor Kelvin Lau. From what I’ve observed, there has been a noticeable improvement, thanks in part to the collaboration between Malaysia Airports Berhad and the food operators,” he said in a statement today (Feb 25).

He said that the SRDC’s Environmental Health Unit has been actively inspecting and overseeing all food premises within the airport.

“With the Sibu Health Division, we’re committed to ensuring the cleanliness and safety of all establishments under our jurisdiction for public patronage,” he added.

Sempurai urged food operators to consistently prioritise hygiene both inside and around their establishments. He firmly stated that the council is prepared to enforce strict measures, including the revocation of food sales licenses and the issuance of closure notices by the District Health Office for those failing to adhere to hygiene and safety norms.
