SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is encouraging the staging of more stage shows in the town.
Its chairman, Clarence Ting Ing Horh told reporters that more such events would make the town livelier.
He said this when attending The Stage programme, a platform for Sibu performers to showcase their talents, here on Friday.
“Because of these events, the people in Sibu will invite their friends from other places to come over,” he said.
Ting also took the opportunity to thank Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng for initiating The Stage programme.
“Tonight, I want to thank YB Chieng for coming out with this event to bring all the Sibu people out and let them have a good time,” he said.
Ting hoped more such musical events would be held in the next few years.
“I hope it will not just be the Borneo Cultural Festival. There are many things we can do to make Sibu livelier,” he said.
