Police photo shows the oil palm plantation workers’ quarters where the Indonesian couple was found dead.

SERIAN: Police have opened murder-suicide investigations after a foreign couple was found dead inside an oil palm plantation workers’ quarters in Melikin on Thursday (May 19).

Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anissaid the victims aged 44 and 47 were Indonesians.

Security guards, who were patrolling the plantation area, found the couple covered in blood on the kitchen floor at around 8pm.

“Investigations at the scene found that the wife’s injuries were on nape of the neck while the husband’s injuries were on the neck.

“The bodies of both victims were taken to Serian Hospital for autopsy,” he said, adding that the couple were workers at the plantation

Aswandy said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempt to commit suicide.

He added investigations are continuing to determine the motive for their deaths.
