KUCHING: A local man accused of injuring his neighbour with a wooden stick was ordered to undergo a mental examination by the Sessions Court here today.

Judge Musli Abdul Hamid ordered Zed Lindi, 34, from Kampung Stungkor Lama, to undergo the examination for a month at Sentosa Hospital.

According to the charge, he is accused of intentionally causing severe injury to a 47-year-old male victim using a wooden stick.

He committed the act at a house in Kampung Stungkor Lama, Lundu, around 10 pm on August 16 this year.

Therefore, the accused is charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine or whipping if found guilty.

The court set the next mention date for the case on next December 8.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Norshafatihah Nor Azmi, while the accused was represented by lawyer Ralph Lee.
