KUCHING: Sarawak Commissioner of Police Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri announced that the police will conduct a ‘Ops Bersepadu’ from December 24 until January 1, 2023.

‘Ops Bersepadu’ is part of the operation to curb crimes and accidents from happening during the festive week ahead.

Azman pointed out that the aim of the operation is to minimise road accidents, break ins, and crimes from happening to ensure the safety of the community.

In a press conference with the media at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Kuching yesterday, he urged for safety of all drivers on the road and to abide by the rules and regulation of traffic.

He also added that for those staying at home, ensure an alarm system is installed or inform the nearest police station if you’re going on holiday.

“Those who go out of town should inform the police about their absence from home to enable security patrols to be conducted.

“Those that go on long journeys should try to have a second driver because tiredness can cause sleepiness and even accidents,” he said.

He also reminded road users not to drive slowly on the right side as it is for fast-moving vehicles to overtake.

Azman stressed that taking extra preventive measures such as installing a CCTV, a door viewer or a steel gate could avoid burglars from entering the premises of your home.
