Croc found hooked on fishing rod in Miri

A crocodile weighing about 50kg being captured by the firemen.

MIRI: A crocodile weighing approximately 50kg was found hooked on a fishing rod near river at Kampung Iran Suai today.

Several local men, who discovered the crocodile, initially tried to reel the reptile in, but to no avail.

They later informed Batu Niah fire station for help.

According to Batu Niah fire station chief Rary Binjie, five firemen were despatched to the scene to capture the reptile after receiving a call about the incident at 8.23am.

“Upon arrival, we discovered that the eight-foot-long crocodile was hooked on a fishing rod.

“We were able to safely capture it,” he said.

The rescued reptile was then handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC).

The operation ended at 9.23am.
