KUCHING: Adinda Nur Fatma Nor, 31, has come a long way since she started selling dresses online in 2010 to make a living.

Without any formal training, today, the mother of two is also a seamstress; she makes dresses, blouses and baju kurung for customers.

“My late grandmother and my aunty taught me how to sew.

“When I was seven months pregnant in 2010 and jobless, I looked for an opportunity to do something that could help me earn some money.

“I started selling dresses and blouses and the business opportunity also allowed me to sew simple dresses and baju kurung and get paid,”

With the technologies available and the free lessons on the Internet as well as a strong will to succeed, Adinda has greatly improved her sewing skills and become a well known seamstress.

“The ones who support me a lot are my husband, family and the people around me.

“I call myself a “Sewing Goddess” as I found that sewing is my passion and I love playing with fabrics.

“Although we live in KL, my husband and I continue receive sewing orders at home.

“For the time being, my husband helps me to sew the dresses,” she explained.

According to her, her husband can also make various kinds of clothes such as dresses and skirts.

Adinda promotes her business on social media, especially on Instagram and Facebook.

“The prices of the dresses and baju kurung I sell start from RM180,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.

A total of 150 customers registered for Adinda’s two-day “Meet & Measure” event recently.
