MIRI: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department confiscated 15,214 sticks of cigarettes and 15 litres of beer valued at RM6,121 with unpaid duties totalling RM12,489.32 during a raid on a premises in Tudan here, on Tuesday.

During the 11.30am raid, the police team also detained two women, who are believed to be workers at the premises, to assist in investigations.

Also seized was a Proton Wira car which was parked near the premises.

“Upon further inspection on the premises, the team found the contrabands in the shop,”said Sarawak Customs director Datuk Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha in a statement issued yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 135 (1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 for possession of goods not approved by Customs.
