Cycling championship in Kuching this weekend

KUCHING: A total of 440 participants has registered for the Individual Time Trial and Road Mass Start events of the Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah Cup Cycling Championship, which will take place this weekend.

Sarawak Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah commended Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA) and Kuching Division Cycling Association (KDCA) for organising the first edition of this two-day championship on Jan 15 and 16.

“This event will take place at Jalan FAC Matang,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Jan 12).

“We hope road users can cooperate by giving way to this event and using alternative roads to prevent any traffic congestion.”

He said this event had received support from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development with sponsorship by Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), OBYU Realty Sdn Bhd, Kadri Group of Companies, Maglia, Buceros Cycling Team, ARDeen, Green Source Energy Sdn Bhd, and MOMAwater.

“Well done to the organisers who are cooperating with Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), State Health Department (JKNS), and Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak.”
