DALAT: The local community should always be wary of the dangers of drug abuse as prevention is always better than cure.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the community should play their role in helping the authorities fight against drug abuse.
According to her, drug abuse is a business as it thrives on demand and supply.
“We have to take care of our community, thus concerted effort is necessary in facing the issue of drug abuse,” she said when officiating at a dialogue session on how to tackle substance abuse at Kampung Hilir community hall here last Sunday.
Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, thanked the organiser and speakers involved in the programme.
At the event, she also handed over grants to the Dalat Single Mother Association (RM31,500) and Dalat Senior Citizens Activity Centre (RM30,000).
Dalat district officer Kueh Lei Poh and local police chief DSP Saga Chunggat also attended the event.
