KUCHING: The mayor of Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), Datuk Junaidi Reduan is set to retire on August 31 after holding the post for four years.

During a general assembly with DBKU employees yesterday (Aug 22), he expressed confidence that the upcoming new mayor would take the agency to an even higher level.

He attributed this to the government’s careful selection process, considering various aspects when appointing individuals to the position.

Junaidi also called on all DBKU employees, especially the management, to continue supporting his successor.

He also mentioned that DBKU has over 800 staff members, with 50 management personnel.

“We must follow the government’s directives and not oppose them. Execute every task with full commitment,” Junaidi said.

“I hope the press will continue to provide full cooperation and support to DBKU because without the press, we will be left in a void.

“The press is where the public gets to know about our activities and provide feedbacks.

“If you ask me, I always consider complaints as a way to improve myself because I believe complaints are feedback from the people.

“Whether you like it or not, if you don’t embrace complaints, you will never make progress.

“You won’t know the way forward, which is the best way to solve your problems,” he said.

Junaidi assumed the position of mayor on September 1, 2019, and will retire on August 31.
