KUCHING: All eyes are set on Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) which is holding its annual delegates’ conference (ADC) in Sibu today. Speculations are rife that the party, which had just received a shattering blow to its pride with the unexpected resignation of its No. 2 man, will make an “important” announcement at the event.

It’s reliably learnt that the delegates will decide whether the party will stay GPS-friendly or break away.

The ADC is scheduled to commence at 10am at Kingwood Hotel where the party will be officially launched.

The ADC is to start off with a welcoming speech by the party president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh followed by a speech and report by the secretary general George Lo.

There will also be speeches by the party senior vice presidents Datuk Tiong Thai King and Datuk Ranum Mina, vice president Dr Johnical Rayong and Datuk Masir Kujat.

The official launch of the party is expected to take place after the ADC at around 12pm followed by a press conference.

On Thursday, in an unexpected twist of event, PSB deputy president and founding member Datuk Dr Jerip Susil announced quitting the party with immediate effect.

He announced his resignation through a signed press release dated July 10.

Dr Jerip’s resignation surprised many including his party colleagues as there was not the slightest hint that he would leave the party.

Barely 16 days earlier, he together with the other top leaders of PSB, signed a loyalty and commitment pledge to the party.

Immediately after his resignation was out in the open, speculations were rife that more party members would follow suit including two big wigs.

So far, none of the PSB leaders has either denied or affirmed the speculations.

“All these are expected to be answered today,” said a source close to the party.
