Development projects to advance Paloh, Kedang and Berangan

PALOH: Paloh, Kedang and Berangan in the Semop state constituency and the Tanjong Manis parliamentary constituency will continue to be developed to ensure progress in rural areas.

According to Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, several projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) would be implemented as soon as possible.

“Among them, phase 1 of the road upgrading project for Kampung Lot Paloh worth RM570,000 has been requested for and is currently awaiting approval from the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Sarawak.

“Meanwhile, in Kampung Kedang, the construction project of the Kampung Kedang Community Hall worth RM500,000 through RTP 2024 and the project to build a jetty and concrete road access worth RM5mil through the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) will also be implemented.

“Kampung Berangan is also not left behind with the road improvement project from the Community Hall to Berangan Jetty with an allocation of RM400,000, which has now completed the voting (cabut undi) process.”

Abdullah said this while speaking at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Kampung Paloh on Tuesday (April 23).

The Semop assemblyman added that these projects are a priority for the Sarawak government in ensuring the development of rural areas.

Meanwhile, Tanjong Manis MP Ir Yusuf Abd Wahab said there will be several additional projects through RADDA to upgrade existing facilities in line with the Paloh-Tanjung Manis Road project that will be carried out.

“Among the projects to be implemented are commercial wharf projects and road access to Kampung Paloh, connecting the concrete jetty of Kampung Paloh.

“In addition, the road upgrading project of Paloh-Kedang, the construction of a new fisherman’s jetty in Kampung Paloh, and the construction of a new bridge to Kampung Lot Paloh amounting to a total of RM47mil.”

Afterwards, Abdullah and Yusuf visited SK Orang Kaya Muda Pakeri to inspect the facilities needed following the issue of the school main building being deemed unsafe for use.
