Donations received to help combat pandemic

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg received two donations for the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) state disaster fund at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya on Friday (August 27).

In a brief ceremony, Abang Johari received a donation from Bintulu Port Authority (LPB) amounting to RM1 million, which was presented by its board chairman Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat.

The chief minister also received a donation amounting to RM2 million from the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), presented by its general manager Hashim Bojet.

Both donations were presented to the state government as well as to SDMC in an effort to curb the on-going Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

Also present at the ceremony was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the chairman of STIDC, and International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais.
