KUCHING: The Malay community should master technological knowledge to gain significant respect internationally.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said if the Malays want to succeed, they must master technology like the generations of the past who mastered navigational knowledge.

“If we can master this technology, others will respect us. So our people should not be ignorant, don’t be defeated as people say.

“We must increase our knowledge, and strengthen our mastery of technology,” he said  during the Samarindok Aidilfitri ceremony organised by Sarawak Malay Culture Foundation Charitable Trust (AKYBMS) at Pullman Hotel here last night.

Abang Johari said he believed AKYBMS will contribute towards the elevation of  community in the Malay Archipelago to gain respect.

On another note, he said the state government will continue to strive to elevate Sarawak’s economy and income beyond 2023. Earlier, Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar officiated at the event.
