KUCHING: Sarawak’s football team manager, Abdul Wahab Rahim advised the team players, coaches and officials not to be afraid of allegations of bribery or match fixing when they lost 2-3 to Felcra FC in the Premier League 2018 on Saturday match held at State Stadium, here. “There’s nothing to fear if you (players, coaches and officers) really didn’t do what you had been accused of,” Wahab said to reporters on Monday.

Last Sunday, Sarawak Football Association president (FAS), Dato Posa Majais received reports claiming the possibility that Sarawak team were involved with match fixing. “In this case we are sure to carry out a detailed investigation into the players, regarding the allegations of the match,” Wahab said. “We will conduct internal investigations first as directed by FAS president,” he said.

“But this does not mean that this phenomenon really happens and I’m sure the Sarawak players were not doing it,” Wahab said. Wahab said, before the start of the season, the players have been warned not to get involved with such activities. It also involved coaching staff and team officers. At the same time the FAS has also held a special dialogue with the MACC. “We do not compromise with any parties involving match fixing and if anyone is found guilty they will be handed over to the authorities,” Wahab said.

The claim against after Felcra FC scored three goals in the last eight minutes leading to Sarawak 2-3 defeat in the Premier League action here on Saturday. Sarawak led 2-0 up to 86th minute but Felcra FC came back to score a three-goal blitz in the 87th minute followed by two more goals in the 91st and 92nd minute. Conswquently, FASpresident, Dato Posa Majais instructed team manager Abdul Wahab Rahim to set up a special committee to investigate the issue.
