KUCHING: The public has been advised to be wary of a WhatsApp account posing as Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) chief executive officer (CEO) Zolkipli Mohamad Aton.
The corporation clarified in a Facebook posting that the account displaying the number, +601128905823 does not belong to SFC or Zolkipli.
“We urge everyone to disregard any messages received from this individual’s number and avoid engaging in any communication with anyone.
“SFC is taking the matter seriously and is taking appropriate steps to address it,” the corporation said.
Anyone receiving suspicious messages from accounts claiming to be from Zolkipli or any other SFC representative should lodge a report with the corporation.
In the Facebook post, SFC also attached some screenshots showing the suspect attempting to scam their victim into purchasing Google Play gift cards worth RM200.
The suspect had apparently requested for 10 pieces of gift cards worth RM2,000, claiming that the gift cards were for some prospects of a meeting.
