KUCHING: Those who tested positive for the coronavirus should not be stigmatised, says Dr Kelvin Yii.

The Bandar Kuching MP urged people who have tested positive for COVID-19 to report themselves as well as do the necessary quarantine and monitoring.

“Before going out today, I got myself tested again. This is not only to protect myself, but all of those whom I am going to meet.

“We hear rumours of many others who have tested positive, but they are afraid to report or even reveal this even though it is the responsible thing to do,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Dr Yii stated that reporting one’s current health status (COVID-19 positive) was to ensure all close contacts could test themselves and take the necessary precautions.

“Even if you’ve tested positive, there is no stigma. We must support and take care of one another.”
