DPM Fadillah gets Energy Transition and Public Utilities Ministry, also handles Sabah and Sarawak Affairs

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) parliamentary chief whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has been retained as a deputy prime minister in the federal new Cabinet line-up.

The Petra Jaya Member of Parliament (MP) is also named as the new Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister. Additionally, Fadillah is now the Minister in-charge of Sabah and Sarawak Affairs.

He was the former Plantation and Commodities Minister before the cabinet reshuffle.

In making the announcement in Putrajaya today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he decided to make some changes to the Cabinet after discussions with leaders in the unity government.

The restructured Cabinet now comprises 31 ministers, supported by 29 deputy ministers, which represents a slight expansion from his initial Cabinet of 28 members, with assistance from 27 deputy ministers.

Other GPS ministers who retained their ministerial posts were Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

Also reappointed to their deputy ministerial posts were Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Taib, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah and Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang.

Meanwhile, former Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) deputy minister Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii is now the Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister.

As for Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, the former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions), has been appointed as the Deputy Digital Minister.
