KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian stressed the importance of fortifying the state’s three fundamental pillars, namely governance, integrity and anti-corruption, as the state progresses.

He said the pillars will form the cornerstone, securing the continuous and unwavering progress of Sarawak’s pursuit of long-term prosperity.

“In this pursuit, the Community Integrity Building (CIB) programme emerges as a beacon of promise, a beacon that heralds a new era of accountability and transparent governance.

“The CIB programme presents a holistic approach to nurturing integrity and eradicating corruption through active community engagement.

“We are merging a complaint monitoring mechanism with surveys gauging the opinions of both service

providers and recipients, effectively enhancing the integrity of our communities,” he said.

Dr Sim said everyone must understand the aspects of integrity within the grassroots level to ensure the steps are efficient.

He was speaking when officiating at the CIB Train the Trainer Programme at Imperial Hotel here3 today.

“The implementation of this programme is an initiative that is in line with the direction and affirmation of the state government in ensuring that all departments and local authorities focus on the

transparency in the delivery of public service throughout Sarawak.

“This programme, I hope, will serve as a means for imparting training and skills to local authorities to create a more effective monitoring system,” he added.

Among those present were Deputy Minister in Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, director of Unit of Integrity and Ombudsman Semawi Mohammad and chief executive officer of Malaysia Integrity Institute Datuk Nor Yahati Awang.
