MIRI: A 38-year-old unemployed man has been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking here on Thursday. The suspect from Kuching was detained during a 10am raid conducted by Miri Narcotic Criminal Investigation Department at a budget hotel in Centre Point Commercial Centre, Jalan Melayu.
Prior to the arrest, the suspect was said to have stayed at the budget hotel for the past five months. The police have also confiscated the drugs believed to be Syabu weighing 5.6g with an estimated worth of RM1,150.
The suspect was tested positive for drugs. Currently, the suspect is under police custody for questioning. The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act.
