MIRI: Narcotics police have arrested a couple suspected of being drug distributors and seized from them Ecstasy drugs worth over RM140,000 in a house at Kin Link Garden, Piasau.

District deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol in a press conference on Friday (Oct 1), said a raid on the house by local and state narcotics police was carried out around 5.30pm last Thursday (Sept 30)

A check on a vehicle belonging to the suspects resulted on the discovery of 198 plastic packets containing powdered drugs believed to be Ecstasy and 590 Ecstasy pills.

“The drugs that weighed at 7.80 kg and valued around RM148,000 were seized as evidence. The team also seized a Louis Vuitton bag, a Dior wallet, two branded watches, and a gold locket, altogether valued at RM29,000,” said Sabri.

The arrestees and seized items were taken to the police station for further actions.

Background checks found that one of them had a past record related to drugs. Both suspects were also found positive for drugs.

Sabri added that the couple were remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 where if convicted, they may face a mandatory death sentence.
