BAU: Two men were arrested for suspected drug abuse in Kampung Peninjau here on Wednesday (May 12).

Bau District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the two suspects were arrested at two different locations around 11am.

Poge said a 31-year-old man was first arrested in front of an unnumbered house in the village.

He said the operations team came across a suspect who looked suspicious and tried to avoid being checked.

“Police found a transparent packet containing syabu (methamphetamine) weighing about 0.33g in a bag he was carrying,” said Poge on Wednesday.

Another 30-year-old suspect was also arrested in the village moments later.

“During the arrest, police inspected a duffel bag carried by the suspect and found a packet containing crystallised substance suspected to be syabu weighing about 0.31g,” said Poge.

The two suspects were later arrested and taken to the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action. Both suspects tested positive for syabu.

Poge added that the two suspects were being investigated under Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
