PADAWAN: Narcotic police here arrested two jobless individuals for alleged involvement in substance abuse in a homestay room at Jalan Stakan yesterday (Oct 25).

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the police managed to find 19 plastic packets believed to be containing syabu-type drugs weighing 6.8g during the 10.05am operation.

“The drugs, worth around RM680, were found in a mint can which was placed on a small rack by the bed.

“As a result, a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested to facilitate investigations under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

Background checks found that the suspects who were tested positive for drugs, each had two priors for substance abuse under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Abang Zainal said the male suspect admitted that the drugs belonged to him and he had been getting his supplies through means of bank transfer transactions.

Efforts to determine the source of the drugs are ongoing.
