LUNDU: Hari Raya joy came early for about 50 needy individuals as they received cash assistance and daily food items from the Tanjong Datu Constituency Service Centre.
The recipients from Lundu Zone each received RM100 as well as rice during the presentation ceremony of donations to the needy at the Pehin Sri Haji Adenan Satem Mosque yesterday (Apr 8) evening.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister and Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri witnessed the handover of the aid by Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan to the recipients.
“It is hoped that with the donation, it could lessen the burden and help these families celebrate the coming Hari Raya celebration,” he said.
Previously similar programmes were held for the needy in Sampadi Zone and Sematan Zone, he added.
“We want to ensure that no needy group is left out and hope to be able to give some cheer to the families,” he pointed out.
Azizul also invited those in his constituency to visit his Hari Raya open house which is scheduled to be held on May 1.
Also present at the ceremony were Lundu district officer Gustian Durani, Pemanca Bentani Suni, Penghulu Awang Sulong Awang Drahman as well as community leaders from Lundu District.
