Elderly man missing in a forest found safe

SERIAN: An elderly man who was reported missing after he left for a forest at Kampung Mayang Mawang here was found safe.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the victim, Daya Sadong, 76, was missing since Wednesday (Aug 4) evening.

The operations centre added that a report on the disappearance was received at 9.18pm on Wednesday (Aug 4) and Serian firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene.

“The search and rescue (SAR) operation started at 8.45am today and the victim was found about 800m from the Bomba control post at 10.25am.

“He was then taken to Serian Hospital for further action,” it said this morning (Aug 5).

Also involved in the SAR operation were two personnel from the K9 unit, policemen and villagers.
