KUCHING: An elderly man has been reported missing by his family after he failed to return home from a snail-hunting trip at the Kampung Bako old cemetery yesterday (Nov 26).
The missing man is identified as Daud Omar, 67.
Based on information obtained from the police, the victim went out at 9 am to search for snails and did not return home ever since.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Tabuan Jaya station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.27 pm last night.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was initiated and personnel from various agencies assisted in the operation to locate Daud.
The team managed to find a set of footprints about 800 metres from the SAR control post at 11.26 pm.
It was confirmed that the footprints belong to Daud.
At the time of writing, the search is ongoing.
