KUCHING: Police have called in a candidate who contested in Gedong Constituency during the recent 12th state election to facilitate their investigation into issues purportedly raised during the campaigning period.

Parti Bumi Kenyalang president Voon Lee Shan in a press release on Sunday (Jan 9), revealed that Tomson Ango, who contested as a PBK candidate in the recent state election and his wife have been asked to present themselves at Siburan police station on Monday, January 10 at 1200hrs to assist in investigation in connection with independence issues and other matters raised during the campaign.

“If I could recall, it is the first time that a husband and wife have been called for investigation concerning election matters in Sarawak.

“This is a dangerous precedence. Our party members are not intimidated and threatened by the authorities who are out to destroy our dreams for Sarawak independence.

“People across the border are watching PBK’s quest for independence very closely,” he claimed.
