KUCHING: The sixth edition of the Kuching Zumba Fiesta is set to captivate participants of all ages, genders and races as it returns as part of the annual Kuching Festival.

The event, organised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), aims to promote a healthier lifestyle within the community through the vibrant and energetic Latin dance-inspired fitness programme.

Scheduled for Aug 19 from 7pm at the State Hockey Stadium, the “Zumba Fiesta is a significant activity within the Youth, Culture and Sports programme,” said MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

“Participants can look forward to numerous health benefits, including burning calories, improving cardiovascular health, boosting mood, reducing stress, and enhancing overall fitness.”

This event is made possible by the collaboration of active local gyms, Zumba studios, and certified instructors from across Kuching, including Exhilarate Fitness Studio, Shake It Squad, Flylab Athletics, Fit’Stars Dance Crew, ZIN’s Fabulous, and Angels Fit Squad.

The main sponsor for this event, KTS Mutual Sdn Bhd, is sponsoring RM50,000 to MBKS, Natural Avenue provided RM10,000, and Oppo is thrilled to sponsor an exciting lucky draw, offering participants a chance to win exclusive prizes.

To join, participants can register for free using the iPeople app on Android and iPhone devices. Every registered attendee will automatically be entered into the lucky draw.

Wee aims to attract around 5,000 to 6,000 participants, making the most of the State Hockey Stadium’s capacity.

Meanwhile, for those planning to attend the Kuching Festival Food Festival (KFFF) during the Street Parade event, several roads will be closed on Saturday (Aug 5), but alternative routes are available for convenience.

Among the roads, Jalan Petanak-Jalan Padungan-KFFF, Jalan Mendu-Jalan Ellis-Jalan Lumba Kuda/Jalan Pinang-KFFF, Jalan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong-Jalan Sekama-Jalan Kueh Siak Hong-KFFF, Jalan Foochow No.1-Jalan Sekama-Jalan Pending/Jalan Kueh Siak Hong-KFFF, Jalan Pending/Jalan Abang Abdul Rahim-Jalan Padungan-KFFF and Jalan Deshon/Jalan Ban Hock-Jalan Central East-East Central Lane 3-KFFF.
