PADAWAN: The role of women in rural areas needs to be empowered in various fields as well as to uphold their dignity.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) news report, Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin said his party would continue to work to help uphold the dignity of women in his constituency.

He said among the areas would be in the development of family institutions, spirituality, economy and agriculture to a higher level.

“So, I hope that with the Puncak Borneo Women’s Association it can produce competitive women.

“I also hope that these women are able to produce business products such as food products, beauty products and so on in the future,” he said.

He said this when presenting appointment certificates to a total of 26 members of the Puncak Borneo Women’s Association Committee, recently.

Datin Yee Chooi Ling Yang who is also Willie’s wife is one of the recipients of the certificate as patron of the Association.

While Carolina Sakok, who was appointed as the chairman of the Puncak Borneo Women’s Association, also received the letter of appointment from Willie.

Meanwhile, Willie suggested that the association be able to identify the products and types of businesses that the members of the association could participate in.

“Women in Puncak Borneo should be brave enough to take on any challenge in order to move forward and will plan a programme called ‘gala night’ to bring and introduce women in Puncak Borneo who are successful with their products,” he said.
