EU team calls on Dr Hazland

KUCHING: A delegation from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Union (EU) paid a courtesy call on Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni today.

The delegation comprised Daniel Hachez, Minister Counsellor of EU Delegation to Thailand; Francesco Floris, First Counsellor for Delegation of the EU to Malaysia; Francesca Gilli and Saroj Srisai, programme officer (Cooperation) of EU Delegation to Thailand; Sunita Lukkhoo, head of EIB Regional Representation for Southeast Asia and Pacific; Timothy Ong, head of Bioeconomy (CBE) Unit of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA); and Hazwanie Hassan, deputy director (Chemical & Advanced Materials Division) of MIDA.

The EU is looking to form partnerships with Sarawak to co-develop regional sustainable energy as well as nature-based solution initiatives.

“EU sees Malaysia as a core in its Indo-China strategy and looks forward to partnering Sarawak in advancing its vision, in line with Sarawak’s 2030 visions chartered out in its Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 as well as Sarawak’s gas, hydrogen and green energy roadmaps,” a ministry statement said.
