KUCHING: A former army personnel was arrested after behaving suspiciously in front of an architect’s house at Pearl Park, Batu Kawa on Saturday night at about 10.30pm.

The victim returned home to find his house broken into and as he was calling his neighbour for help, he saw the suspect in front of his house.

He shouted to the suspect and his neighbour, who had earlier on seen the suspect loitering suspiciously at the victim’s house, had already called police.

The neighbour said they had seen the same suspect in the area for the last few days.

Police arrested the suspect aged 24, whose service with the army expired in December last year due to disciplinary problems.

The victim discovered that his house grill was forced open in front and the fence was cut. His house was in a mess and all the rooms were ransacked.

Among the items missing were cash amounting to RM6,000, gold jewellery worth RM200,000, a 50-inch television, iPads, branded bags, mobile phones and a notebook.

Losses was estimated to about RM300,000.

Padawan police chief, Supt Aidil Bohassan confirmed the case and said police are investigating.
