Ex-soldier on good behaviour bond to cool off

KUCHING: A former soldier who vented his anger on his wife after discovering she was cheating on him was placed on a six-month good behaviour bond here Monday.

He pleaded guilty to shoving his wife against the wall and causing minor injuries to her arms after seeing pictures and videos shared by her on social media.

Givensuraj, 30, admitted to the offence under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

He had committed the crime against his 42-year-old wife at their residence in Kampung Tabuan Dayak, at about 8.30pm, on Jan, 6, this year.

Zubaidah ordered Givensuraj placed on six months’ bond with a surety of RM1,000.

The court had earlier heard that his wife who lodged a police report admitted to having an affair with another man after learning her husband had been dismissed from the army and not pensioned off early.

Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case while Givensuraj was not represented by legal counsel.
