KUCHING: Chemsain HRD Sdn Bhd and Sunway University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of a sustainability training programme for businesses in Malaysia.

The MoU signing took place at Chemsain Building here recently, witnessed by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

The partnership between Chemsain HRD and Sunway University aligned with the sustainability initiatives outlined in the Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS), said Dr Sim.

“This is an exciting collaboration to promote and develop sustainability not just in Sarawak but throughout Malaysia.

“With a strategic combination of academics and industry experience from both parties, Malaysians can really benefit from having more awareness and understanding of sustainability and its long-term implications on our livelihoods.”

The joint effort will focus on developing a Sustainability Accelerator Programme designed to equip small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the public with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop sustainability strategies.

The programme aims to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability within organizations and encourage businesses to adopt sustainable practices.

Participants will gain an understanding of sustainability, learn to identify risks and opportunities within their organisations, and explore how Bank Negara’s Climate Change Principle-Based Taxonomy (CCPT) will impact businesses.
