KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah yesterday received a courtesy call by representatives of Hing Ann Association Kuching at her office in Baitul Makmur Building here, yesterday.

Leading the visit was Mary Tay Siew Geok, organising advisor for Hing Ann’s upcoming Happy Family Day.

They came to invite Fatimah to officiate at the event as well as to inform her that booths will be prepared for her ministry to provide information on the availability of assistance given by the state government in order to help the needy during the event on March 1.

The Happy Family Day event is scheduled to be held at Kampung Bintawa Heng Ann Thian Miau Temple community hall here where stalls selling food and beverages, family health products, optical goods and more will be set up.

Various other services will also be provided such as free health screenings, blood tests, and eye screenings.

There will be help for those who want to apply for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC); information on childbirth insentive; Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS); assistance for diabetics and others.

Fatimah and Mary (a Majlis Wanita Keluarga committee member) also discussed the ministry’s initiatives for last year and this year.

“I am very glad to see Hing Ann Association Kuching organising a family activity which will greatly benefit the communities around here. We welcome the association’s effort to assist registering KGC applicants,” said Fatimah.

Hing Ann Association also presented a token of appreciation to Fatimah during the courtesy call.
