KUCHING: A total of 52 students will receive their diplomas during the 17th convocation ceremony for Institut Kemahiran Islam Malaysia Sarawak (Ikmas) which will be held at Majlis Islam Sarawak on August 3 and 4.

President of Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), Datuk Misnu Taha said that apart from the convocation ceremony, Ikmas will be holding its ‘Hari Mesra’.

“Various activities such as futsal, volleyball, cooking contest, colouring contest for children, booth stalls will be held to engage the public and local community.

“Also for the first time, Ikmas will hold Malam Kesenian Islam (Islamic Arts Night) featuring Dikir Barat Islam at Ikmas Telaga Air and Majma Mall hallway,” he said.

Misnu said this year’s graduates comprise 26 males and 26 females. Fifty of them will receive Diploma Dakwah Islamiyyah and two others the Diploma Pengajian Islam dan Dakwah.

“Yang Di-pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will grace the event,” he said in a press conference held at Baitulmal here yesterday.
