Fire destroys storehouse in Matu

MATU: A fishing and farming storehouse was completely destroyed in the wee hours of today.

According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received an emergency call about the incident at 1.15am.

The storehouse, which contained farming and fishing equipment, was a non-permanently structured building that measured around 20 by 30 square feet.
 
It was reported that a 40-horsepower boat, a fibre boat, a 12-foot-long boat, a 15-horsepower engine, and fishing nets also caught fire.
 
The firefighters used two water hoses to extinguish the flames.
 
After ensuring that the situation was safe, the operation was wrapped up at 2.50am.
 
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
