MIRI: Four stalls selling roasted meat were destroyed in a fire at Senadin in Miri early yesterday morning.

The incident that occurred around 3am was believed to have been a result of arson following the discovery of the effect of kerosene oil in the area besides a cat that was found dead with injuries suspected of being hit by irresponsible culprits.

According to sources, the fire was noted by public members who happened to pass through the area and subsequently tried to extinguish it from spreading to nearby stalls.

“The fire was spreading rapidly razing booths and stalls made of wood and zinc.

“Fortunately the people acted fast and the fire could be extinguished from spreading to adjacent stalls,” he said adding the fire resulted in the total destruction of the four stalls.

Meanwhile, a police team from the Motorcycle Patrol Unit rushed to the site after being informed of the fire.
