KUCHING: Firefighters successfully averted a potential disaster when they managed to contain a fire from spreading to nearby shoplots on Jalan Padungan on Thursday night.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received an emergency call at 11.29 pm concerning the incident and dispatched a team of firefighters from Padungan Bomba station to the scene.
The operations commander reported that a fire had erupted outside one of the shops, resulting in the destruction of a table. Firefighters swiftly tackled the blaze to prevent it from further spreading.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Subsequently, a Sarawak Energy technician conducted an inspection of the building’s electrical wiring to ensure its safety.
