KUCHING: The free tourist bus using hydrogen fuel is expected to operate here by March next year.

Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told a press conference this after officiating the International Heritage and Cultural Conservation Conference (InHerit 2018) at Waterfront Hotel here yesterday.

“For the first trial, there will be one bus   for tourists to go around the city and visit the heritage areas.

“At the moment, I am still unsure about the mechanism of the bus because we haven’t seen it in detail yet but it is meant for domestic and international tourists.

“The domestic tourists can be those  from outside Kuching City such as Sibu, Miri and others and they are also eligible to use the bus,” he said.

Karim added that the cost of such public transportation would be cheap because hydrogen was extracted from water  which was abundant in Sarawak.
