KUCHING: Muslims can now make zakat fitrah (personal tithe) payments at the newly launched Zakat Collection Kiosk at Majma Mall.

Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS) general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie said the Zakat Collection Kiosk was an initiative by TBS with the goal of making it easier for  Muslims   to make tithe payments.

“The kiosk is the first in Kuching, with another two kiosks located at the Islamic complexes in Sibu and Miri.

“With this kiosk, they do not have to make unnecessary trips to the office to make zakat payments.

“They can pay with  cash, e-wallet, debit cards or even by using their identity cards,” he said.

Abang Mohd Shibli said when officiating at the launch of the Zakat Collection Kiosk at Majma Mall here yesterday (Apr 14).

Apart from zakat payments, he said the kiosk could also be used to make utility bill payments, to top up  telco and e-wallets  and purchase internet or sim cards.

He added that depending on the reception of this kiosk, TBS would consider adding more kiosks at strategic locations in the future.

Meanwhile, according to TBS in a statement, a total of RM22.7 million in tithe revenue has been distributed to the less fortunate through its four main programmes, namely, the Programme for Enhancing Scholars Traditions, the Programme for Developing Islamic Institutions, the Programme for Strengthening Community Welfare and the Programme for Improving Community Skills as of March 31.
