The search for an elderly fisherman, Addi Bangsa, 60, who had gone missing and was suspected to have been attacked by a crocodile in Sungai Kampung Mas-Mas Nasib Kita, Tawau, concluded today (July 23).

Authorities found the man’s remains inside the stomach of a giant crocodile.

Tawau’s Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Jemishin Ujin reported that the search operation was carried out in cooperation with the Department of Wildlife.

“After four days of relentless searching, the Wildlife team finally located a crocodile believed to be responsible for the attack.

“To confirm their suspicions, they shot the animal and upon dissecting its stomach, tragically found the victim’s body inside,” he disclosed.

This male crocodile was an enormous specimen, weighing approximately 800 kilograms and measuring an impressive 4.26 metres in length.
