The explosive war remnants that were caught in a fisherman's fishing net by the riverbank at Kampung Muhibbah, Tanjung Bako.

KUCHING: A fisherman found two ammunition shells and a bullet casing while fishing by the riverbank at Kampung Muhibbah, Tanjung Bako.

District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani disclosed that the call was received at 9.46pm from the 34-year-old, who informed the police of the discovery.

He added that a bomb squad from the bomb disposal unit and armament unit from the district’s headquarters were deployed to the scene to investigate.

“Further investigation confirmed that the objects found were of ammunition shells and bullet casing.

“The complainant found the objects while fishing by the riverbank on Wednesday as the objects got caught in his fishing net and brought it home,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Awang Din added that the explosive war remnants were taken to the state police headquarters armament unit for further action.

He also urged the public to immediately report the discovery of any suspected ammunition or explosives to the police for proper action.
