Five landowners receive RM1.3 mln in compensation

MIRI: Three areas measuring 3,764.875 hectares in Miri and Baram divisions, namely Long Seniei in Akah Baram (Kayan), Sungai Enkeririn Suai (Iban) and Bukit Peninjau (Iban) in Sibuti, have been gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserves (Agriculture) under Section 6 of the State Land Code.

Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has hoped that the new Federal government will continue with the previous government’s policy in providing allocation for the State’s perimeter-survey programmes.

“Under the new initiative of the Native Customary Right (NCR) perimeter-survey programme conducted since 2010, a total of 523 areas (864,377) hectares have been successfully measured as of July 30, 2018.

“The State Land and Survey Department has also successfully gazetted a total of 435 areas which involved 678,249 hectares,” he added during an event at Miri Land and Survey Department at Wisma Pelita here yesterday.

On the land acquisition for the construction of proposed oil palm factory in Bakong measuring 38.348 hectares, Tengah revealed that the compensation payment totalling RM1.3 million has been paid out to five recipients.

He added that the proposed oil palm factory was one of the State government’s efforts to boost the people’s revenue by creating more economic opportunities especially those residing in the rural areas.

Meanwhile, a total of 107 land titles (unders Section 18 of the State Land Code) were presented under the Traditional Village Land and Survey programme.

The villages involved are Kampung Batu 8, Kampung Kuala Sibuti, Kampung Kayu Kapor, TR Albion (Tiris), Kampung Sebalik/Pintasan Tiris and Kampung Terahad, Sibuti.

Also present at the event were Deputy Director (Operation) of State Land and Survey Department Kueh Hui Urg, Land and Survey Miri Superintendent Arni Abdul Rahman, Piasau State Assemblyman Dato’ Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Lambir State Assemblyman Ripin Lamat, Telang Usan State Assemblyman Dennis Ngau and Sibuti Member of Parliament Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
