FIVE primary schools will be connected to electricity grids which are currently being implemented, namely at SK Nanga Peraran, Pelagus; SK Sungai Tunoh, Baleh; SK Nanga Merit, Belaga; SK Nanga Metah, Baleh; and SK Temenggong Koh, Baleh.

These projects are expected to be completed before year end.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said there are three schools in Kapit Division, namely SK Nanga Tiau, Baleh; SK Lubok Mawang, Baleh; and SK Sungai Menuan, Bukit Goram which have not been connected to electricity grids and still use generators.

“As for the proposed SK Pelajau Kapit project, it has been cancelled and replaced with the construction of SMK Goram under the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP) Rolling Plan 5 (RP5),” he said  in reply to Wilson Nyabong (GPS-Pelagus) during the question-and-answer session today.

Wilson had earlier asked the ministry on the ongoing construction status of SK Pelajau Kapit, given that the project was cancelled.

Harden said the proposed project was cancelled because the existing primary schools could still meet the needs of the local population.

“New proposals can be submitted for consideration if there is a need in the future,” Harden said.
