KUCHING: Pertubuhan Pembangunan Insan Sarawak (PPIS) chairperson Manjeet Kaur Sidhu hopes that the Sarawak government will focus more on infrastructure and education, now that the latter has collected its highest revenue ever.

“In terms of infrastructure, I think Sarawak needs to construct better roads and utilities for its future endeavours,” she said.

She opined that the state should also continue its digital and free initiatives to attract more foreign investors.

“Nevertheless, it is wonderful to see that the state has surpassed its projected revenue in 2022, especially as we just got out of the pandemic movement control order and businesses are starting to operate.

“Such achievement shows the aggressiveness of the state and its leadership when it comes to supporting local businesses,” she lauded.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that Sarawak had collected its highest revenue in its history in 2022, surpassing its initial projection.

He said the state’s actual revenue performance for the financial year 2022 surpassed its projected revenue by 17 per cent, from RM10.2bil to RM11.9bil.
