TATAU: Those in the food should be aware of the importance of proper food handling for safety and health, said Ministry of International Trade and Investment officer Norulhadi Ismailly Yakub said.

He said food handlers must ensure that the food prepared was safe for consumptions by their customers.

Hence the mandatory requirement for those planning to go into the food business to undergo a course to train them to meet three conditions.

“The three conditions are food handlers must undergo a food handling training (LPM) course, and obtain a certificate, go for health examination, and receive anti-typhoid injection,” he said during a food handler training course (LPM) held by the Sedamai Learning Centre here, yesterday.

The training conducted by Billy Wong, a certified instructor from the centre, and attended by 60 individuals, touched on the issues of food hygiene and safety, and critical factors that could lead to food poisoning.

Participants later received a certificate recognised by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
